Biography

New England native Julie Rosenthal is featured on Boston's Best Singer-Songwriter Showcase Volume III. Julie has been singing much of her life. She picked up the guitar in her late twenties and there began the journey of songwriting. Having grown up in a musical family, Julie was exposed to Country and Bluegrass at an early age—and yes, her good ole' roots have inevitably found their way into her present style of playing, singing and writing. Her self-titled EP demonstrates an inherent talent for combining catchy melodies with intimately insightful lyrics. Further, her live performances suggest a natural gift for connecting with the audience.

She credits much of her development to the music community at the legendary Club Passim in Cambridge, MA, where Julie first stepped onto their stage for open mic night. She was then selected to perform in the club's Cutting Edge of the Campfire Festival as well as in a New Faces Showcase.

Julie then had the privilege of opening for Maine-based singer songwriter Carol Noonan. Noonan was taken with Julie's comfortable stage presence and melodic voice and asked that she open for her at Capo's in Lowell, MA. Julie has also performed at local Cambridge, MA hot spots Toad and the Lizard Lounge. Julie is completing work on a full-length acoustic album to be released in Spring 2007.
